I think it's because it looks at the scouts from the user's data when you're at a user's profile. When you remove it, it will only go to /art since anything anything after it besides /popular, /featured, and /browse are not recognized and will return nothing which it will bring you to the art portal since it's not a user page. That's what I think, don't know much about web programming.
